Cavies

The Show has held a Cavy section since 2012 and it has gone from strength to strength.

Cavies, also known as guinea pigs, have a great following in Cornwall as well as all around the country, with us having a few Cavy Clubs right here in Cornwall.

The Show has great support from exhibitors with us receiving a good number of exhibits every year, allowing us to have a large array of different breeds on show for everyone to enjoy.

We have something for everyone, from the experienced exhibitors to adult and children’s pet classes.

So even if you just have a pair of pet guinea pigs in your garden and would be interested in getting involved in showing them you will be made very welcome.

Cavies are judged in age categories:

3-5 months old - Cavies under 3 months are not permitted to enter the Show

5-8 months old

Adult - over 8 months

Children can enter the Child’s Pet section from the child’s 5th birthday and the Juvenile Purebred section from their 7th birthday.

Cavy Section 2025

This year we are excited to be welcoming the Southern Cavy Club Summer Stock Show. This show is a full sized show that has classes for all breeds, as well as pet classes that will run alongside the Stithians Cavy Show.

We are also looking forward to seeing the return of the Teddy Stock Show for 2025, which is a stand-alone show for the Teddy breed only.

2025 will see the return of the point show for the Rare Varieties Cavy Club, in addition to the National Tortoise and White points show.

So I think it’s safe to say we have something for everyone.

If you are interested in showing cavies at Stithians this year, you will be made very welcome and please feel free to contact the Section Secretary for any help or advice on entering a show.

If you do not wish to show yet have an interest in cavies, please come along to the Cavy section which is open all day and stays open during judging.

With over 900 classes in the Cavy section this year we will have plenty to see for all spectators and visitors, with a large array of different breeds on show. Which one will be your favourite?
